The EU and the Anti-Government Demonstrations in Hungary (2007)
The present communist-neoliberal government of Hungary set up a committee named after its chairman Mrs. Gönczöl to investigate the violent police acts against anti-government demonstrators during September-October 2006, Budapest. Not surprisingly the biased riot report of this government financed committee renewed social divisions. Now three former members of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary lodged a protest against it and addressed to Mr. Franco Frattini Vice-President and EU Commissioner responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security. Moreover demonstrations could pick up again on 15 March - the anniversary of the 1848-1849 Revolution and War For Freedom against Habsburg rule and a date used for anti-Communist protests under the 50 years of Soviet occupation period.
